Turriculae – The White Wine of the Romans
Travel back in time with Turriculae, an exceptional wine to discover !
Embark on a flavorful journey with Turriculae, a dry white wine faithfully crafted from a 1st-century text by the Roman agronomist Lucius Columella, in the reconstructed Gallo-Roman cellar. During winemaking, the addition of seawater, fenugreek, and defrutum (reduced grape must) gives it a surprising and complex taste.
Turriculae is best served chilled, pairing beautifully with oysters, seafood, grilled fish, white meats, asparagus omelets, or cheeses from Cantal and Jura.
👉 This wine is produced at Mas des Tourelles, a unique vineyard located in Beaucaire, where experimental archaeology allows the recreation of ancient wines following historical methods.
The estate also welcomes visitors for a full immersion into Roman-era viticulture.
