Imagine a mysterious, unusual, and enchanting place, lost in the heart of the garrigue...
The Abbey of Saint-Roman, a remnant of an ancient monastery carved directly into the rock, opens its doors for a truly unique experience.
Long ago, hermits and then monks chose this hilltop to retreat from the world. With patience and courage, they sculpted the abbey into the stone using only the tools they had — an incredible feat you can admire in a timeless atmosphere.
As night falls and the last visitors have left, the abbey becomes yours. With your pass, you’ll access the upper terrace for an intimate aperitif, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. From up there, a stunning 360° panorama unfolds before your eyes: the Rhône Valley, the Alpilles, and the vast, wild garrigue.
The experience, offered from 7 to 9 p.m., includes a self-guided tour of the site in a small group, two tasting drinks (wine or fruit juice), an individual catering box (choice of classic or vegetarian), and a 35 cl wine glass with a custom design (included with adult boxes only).
Classic box: Bull sausage, pea “tiramisu,” tomato and roasted pepper salad with garlic, beetroot with goat cheese mousse, duck breast and sun-dried tomato slider, tabbouleh, cheese with edible flowers.
Vegetarian box: Mediterranean vegetable stew, pea “tiramisu,” beetroot with goat cheese mousse, zucchini flan with tomato coulis, sun-dried tomato quiche, tabbouleh, cheese with edible flowers.
At each aperitif, two local winemakers will be present to introduce their white, rosé, and red wines. You’ll be able to taste wines from both estates, chat with the producers, purchase an additional glass (€2.50), or take home your favorite bottles.
For children and those who don’t drink alcohol, a selection of local fruit juices will be available: cherry, apple, grape, peach, apricot... A delicious and natural offering from the Terre d’Argence orchards, which may vary depending on the date.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Drink responsibly. Children remain under the responsibility of their parents.
