Mulsum – The Honeyed Wine of the Romans
A refined wine for lovers of sweet delights.
As evidenced by the writings of Pliny the Elder, the combination of wine with honey, herbs, and spices made it a festive wine, often served at the gustatio, the Roman equivalent of our aperitif. Mulsum, crafted according to ancient traditions in the reconstructed Gallo-Roman cellar, offers a subtle balance between the sweetness of honey and the spices. Its aromas evoke the exquisite flavors cherished at Roman banquets.
Served well chilled, Mulsum pairs perfectly with an aperitif, highly spiced dishes, duck breast with figs, small quails with grapes, or a chocolate dessert.
👉 This wine is produced at Mas des Tourelles, a unique vineyard located in Beaucaire, where experimental archaeology allows the recreation of ancient wines following historical methods.
The estate also welcomes visitors for a full immersion into the world of Roman-era viticulture.
