Entitled “On the bridge: bridges and footbridges through time,” this conference invites you to discover these essential structures that connect people, territories, and eras.
Whether made of wood, stone, metal, or concrete, bridges and footbridges have always met fundamental needs for transportation, trade, and development.
Through a historical journey, the conference will highlight the evolution of these “passageways,” which are closely linked to the natural constraints, uses, and technical innovations of each period.
From the earliest constructions to the most modern structures, these works testify to human ingenuity and our ability to overcome obstacles.
