Conférence "Ça coule de source"

Jonquières-Saint-Vincent

Presentation

New for 2026, the Heritage Education Service of the Beaucaire Terre d'Argence Community of Municipalities is offering a free lecture for those interested in heritage and local history.

Description

Entitled Ça coule de source. Histoires rafraîchissantes de fontaines et de sources (It flows naturally: Refreshing stories of fountains and springs), this lecture invites you to discover the history and symbolism of fountains and springs, from ancient times to the present day.
Featured in mythological tales, considered early on to be of public utility, and sometimes sacred, these structures remind us how water has always been, and remains, essential to life.

Through this presentation, the audience will be able to explore the uses, beliefs, and legends associated with these iconic places, as well as understand their role in everyday life and in the development of towns and villages.
An informative and invigorating lecture that takes a fresh look at an often underestimated heritage.

“And why shouldn't we go on a pilgrimage next year to drink a good swig of fresh water from the King's fountain?”
Daudet
